Sleep. Part One

Most of my patients complain about lack of sleep & tiredness. They continue to do their work, writing emails and making calls late into the evening and frequently working till late at night in an attempt to complete all their tasks.

It is in this condition of huge stress that they then try to relax and go to sleep. However, it is very difficult for a person to go from one phase to another as the body needs time, space & freedom from stress in order to relax.

Furthermore, the technologies that help us in both work and play; laptops, smartphones, TVs and e-readers contribute to this sleep disruption as the blue light that they emit affects our levels of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin.

Sleep is extremely important for our physical and emotional wellbeing.

“Sleep helps us to be healthy, productive and live in the present."
